Back a few decades ago, H. 'Halcyon' was being propagated in tissue culture. One of the babies was not a true H. 'Halcyon', so was destined for the compost heap. However, the girl in the lab thought it looked pretty, so asked to take it home instead. She named it after her Mum and the rest, as they say, is history.
