From Herb Benedict, the respected hosta breeder, H, 'Purple Verticulated Elf' has an unusual purple bluish cast to its thick, pointy leaves. The colour holds well into the autumn. Considered one of the best small blues of Tardiana heritage. Flowers can be clustered in whorls up the scape, hence the name (verticillate refers to whorled flowering).
